About Me
I was elected as county councillor for Kenilworth Abbey Division in May 2005, my first attempt to win the seat (although I had stood unsuccessfully forĀ a District Council seat in 2003). On the County Council I am the Liberal Democrats’ spokesperson for Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) and Vice-Chair of the CYPF Overview & Scrutiny Committee. I also sit on the Environment Overview & Scrutiny Committee and the Warwick Area Committee. Other county council responsibilities include board membership of the Warwickshire Education Business Partnership and the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation, and membership of a number of committees and partnership bodies including the Pupil Re-integration Unit Management Committee, Schools Forum, Schools Admissions Forum, Governors Forum Steering Group and the Joint Negotiating Committee (Education). I am actively involved in a number of Kenilworth organisations, including the Town Centre Partnership, the Youth & Community Centre Management Committee (chair in 2008) and the Safer Neighbourhoods Panel. I regularly attend meetings of the Stoneleigh, Burton Green and Ashow Joint Parish Council and the Burton Green Residents Association. I have been a governor of St. John’s Primary School & Nursery since 2003, and am currently Chair of Finance. My wife Ann and I have lived in Kenilworth since 1979. We have three grown-up children and two young grandchildren. I worked in the international automotive parts business until taking early retirement in 2003. I am Vice-Chair of Kenilworth & Southam Liberal Democrats.
