This morning I met a Gas Alliance representative together with other local councillors, business leaders, council officers and local police, to discuss the current major programme of gas mains replacement across Kenilworth.
The programme has not met its original timetable due to a number of unforeseen problems. What we discussed in outline was the completion of the current phase of works in March and early April, and then a gap of a few months before the Gas Alliance come back to complete the works during the summer school holiday period and into September. The Town Centre Manager will provide the Gas Alliance with the dates of all key events taking place over the summer, such as the Kenilworth Carnival, so that disruption is kept to a minimum.
I think we all recognise that replacement of gas mains is essential safety work for everyone’s benefit, and that some disruption is inevitable. Good liaison between the local community and the Gas Alliance people can help it to run as smoothly as possible.Leave a comment
